Teacher of the Game program now under way

The CCSD School-Community Partnership program announced the MGM Resorts International Teacher of the Game recognition program, in which one teacher will be selected and recognized at each UNLV Runnin' Rebels home men's basketball game. Teacher nominations are due by Friday, Oct. 15.

Next Tuesday's "Inside Education" will feature interviews with award-winning GVHS science teacher Cindy Kern plus Margarita Garcia, principal of Reedom Elementary School. The show airs Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. on Channel 10 and is rebroadcast Wednesday at 12:30 a.m. on Channel 10, Friday at 4:30 p.m. on Cox Cable 111 and Sunday at 6 a.m. on Channel 10.

Vote by Friday to help Forbuss ES win contest

Forbuss Elementary School is in the running to win one of 20 $500,000 scholarships from Kohls. The school would use the funds to build an extensive science lab, upgrade its computers and technology, build a TV station, and improve the fine arts department and library. The contest is based on votes from the public; the voting deadline is Friday, Sept. 3. Click here for details.
